It’s fall y’all, and you know what that means. All things pumpkin. Pumpkin bread, soup, ice cream, doughnuts, muffins, and the like. Are you drooling yet?
I think it’s only necessary to start the season off with a
bang and hit the local pumpkin farm. Around here it’s Young’s Jersey Dairy that
tends to be packed from the first sign of changing leaves through Christmas.
Young’s has it all – a pumpkin patch, corn maze, Christmas tree farm, delish
country style restaurants, petting zoo, homemade cheeses and ice cream… the
list goes on.
We joined our friends Jamie, Dan and sweet baby Kennedy for
a farm-filled afternoon. It’s worth fighting a bit of a crowd to jump on the
wagon and take a ride out to their pumpkin patch. We grabbed a wagon and some
sheers, and headed as far out as we could in the search for the perfect
pumpkin. We took the obligatory baby-in-front-of-pumpkin picture, and headed
back to the restaurant for some homemade cheese curds.
After a fun-filled afternoon, we packed up the little ones,
and headed out (but not before grabbing some apple cider, pumpkin doughnut
holes and a quart of homemade chocolate-peanut butter ice cream to go, of
course).
Grateful for good friends, crisp air, crunchy leaves, and pumpkins.
(and we capped off our evening with caramel vodka and apple cider. Oh Em Ge.)
XOXO
